Kar Kaddy vs. Flat Tow

Okay! The Kar Kaddy has been wonderful and a pain on every trip. First off, we loved the idea of having a way to tow any car on our trips… because we have two cars and could decide which would be best on each trip. We, however, have had challenges from the very first pickup in Tampa.

Problem one: If your car’s steering wheel doesn’t lock, don’t use the Kar Kaddy to tow. We nearly lost my car, caused some body damage to it and struggled on every trip we’ve taken! My car is a Hyundai Veloster and the steering wheel does not lock. As a result the car wiggles a lot during the drive and the straps used to hold the tire to the Kar Kaddy shake loose within a couple hours-especially if you make hard turns. The worst part is we have no idea when this happens as we drive the RV. So, it’s really a safety issue.

Problem two: The tail lights were held on with plastic fasteners that popped out by the time we drove from Florida to VA. We then tried calking and gluing it down… not the best idea. The latest fix was with screws, nuts, and bolts.

The two holes now have screws in them. We think this is the final fix!The two holes now have screws in them. We think this is the final fix!
